I’ve been attending the Sunday group fitness classes with the rest of the HLC participants, and wow, it’s quite an ass-busting workout. Thanks to Endorphin Junkies trainer Junior Mulingtapang for kicking it up a notch this week! That was one sweaty and tough session. Ally, Erin and Nicola were there too keeping us in top form. I think everyone had a good sleep last night after that class.
The trainers say they have seen some huge improvement in the group over the past 4 weeks. And I’ve had several people celebrate great personal successes, including Stephanie and Inderjit, who both did an entire minute of elevated pushups (that’s when you have your feet up on a ledge).
Here are a couple of great personal anecdotes for this week:

The weigh-in at St. Paul’s was a very pleasant surprise and confirmed for me that hard work will pay off even at my age. I think I was afraid that I had let myself get too far gone and that at my age, I would not be able to get back into the kind of shape I have attained in the past. I believe now that I can do it….and as long as I believe …..I know I can do anything.
My husband told me this week that “the old Barb” is coming back….the one that’s bubbly and happy and fun to be around. I actually have a little tear on my face right now because I know exactly what he means…because I feel it too!!!!

John has always hated running and was not looking forward to the running portion of the HLC. But he stuck to it, and now he’s finding his running groove.
My big success for the week was completing the 12 minute run as well as I did. You have no idea what it means to me to be able to do that. I completed 1.3 miles in that time and was near the top of the group (I don’t mean that I care about “winning” in this case, rather that I know there are number of people who already are runners, so I feel great to have risen so far in the short time).
