In a release, police initially said the incident happened at 6:50 a.m. on Jan. 2, when pilots informed Air Traffic Control of the green laser.

“They believed the laser had been pointed from an area near the golf course on Old Guysborough Rd.,” the RCMP said.

The RCMP said it conducted a number of patrols in the area in response to the report.

In an update, police said neighbours who live near the airfield contacted them on Jan 10 to say that a holiday laser projector light had blown over on their property and was pointed directly at the sky.

“Investigators believe that this was the source of light involved in this incident and that there was no intention to aim it at approaching aircraft,” a release read.
