Milton, Ont. stabbing leaves 1 person dead, 1 in custody

A woman has died after a fatal stabbing in Milton, Ont., police say.

Halton Regional Police said they were called to a home on Gosford Crescent at around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police arrived to find a woman who was in life-threatening condition after being stabbed, officers at the scene said. She was taken to hospital but later died.

Police say 40-year-old Asad Rasheed, from Milton, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Tuesday night near the scene.

He’s since been charged with second-degree murder and expected to make his first court appearance on Nov. 28.

Investigators say Rasheed and the victim were known to each other.

There is no threat to public safety and no other suspects are being sought, according to police.
