Edmonton – A south Edmonton home has suffered damaged after a fire broke out inside the house Sunday night.
Fire crews were called to the home in the Blue Quill neighbourhood at 11:30 Sunday night.
It’s believed the blaze began in the chimney chase.
Firefighters managed to get the fire under control at around 12:15 a.m. Monday.
With the temperature dropping, fire officials are encouraging homeowners to inspect their fireplaces before lighting them up.

“In light of the fact winter’s coming up, get your fireplaces looked at, make sure they’re safe and clean,” says District Chief Paul Colcy, Edmonton Fire Rescue.
Colcy also recommends homeowners check their furnaces when the temperature dips.
“We’ll see furnace motors overheating, that kind of thing,” explains Colcy.
No one was injured in the fire. The extent of the damage is still being determined.
