Police say a woman is in custody after “multiple fires” were allegedly set along Toronto’s Bathurst Street.
In a tweet Sunday, Toronto police said officers received a report of a fire in the Bathurst Street and McAllister Road area at around 7 a.m.
Police said a woman allegedly set a fire in an area beside a lowrise residential building.
“She then set fire to the front vestibule area of two separate highrise residential buildings,” police alleged in a news release.
Officers said the woman then allegedly set fire to a shed or scrapyard, located behind a residential home.
According to police, the woman then allegedly set fire to a dumpster at a highrise building.
Officers said no injuries were reported as a result of the fires.
Police said 30-year-old Valentyna Popova of no fixed address has been charged with five counts of arson endangering life, break and enter and breach of probation.
According to police she appeared in court on Sunday.
