Saanich police identify body near Lochside Trail as missing person

A body that was found by Saanich police near Lochside Regional Trail, around Quadra Street and McKenzie Ave on Oct. 6, 2022, has now been identified.

Police have identified the body as missing person Timothy Mackness.

“His death is not considered suspicious,” said Dect. Sgt. Damian Kowalewich.

“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Mackness. At this point, the BC Coroners Service will assume the conduct of the file.”

Mackness was reported missing in the area the day prior to the discovery of the body.
