1 man dead, another injured in shooting at cemetery in Richmond Hill: police

Police said one man is dead and another is in hospital after a shooting in Richmond Hill, Ont.

York Regional Police said officers received a report of a shooting at the Toronto Muslim Cemetery, located on Leslie Street, just after 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Global News has learned the incident occurred at the funeral for 27-year-old Gidid Mohamed who was killed in another shooting in Toronto earlier this week.

Police said a 26-year-old man was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Officers said he succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

According to police, a 27-year-old man was also taken to hospital in serious condition.

The force said “multiple” suspects fled the scene in an SUV.

“Investigators believe this incident was targeted and there is no threat to public safety,” a news release read.

Police said there were “several potential witnesses” at the ceremony.
