RCMP investigate after man’s body found in elevator shaft

EDMONTON- RCMP are investigating after a man’s body was found at the bottom of an unfinished elevator shaft at a Fort McMurray construction site.

Officers were called to the site in the Timberlea area around 3:50 a.m. Sunday, after a report of a suspicious person in the area.

Police searched the area and say they found the body of a Caucasian male at the bottom of an unfinished elevator shaft. Officers believe the man was in his mid 20s.

A second man was located in the area and detained by police.¬†However, officers do not believe foul play was involved in the man’s death.

Officers are now investigating to determine exactly what happened.

The victim’s name has not been released.
