Peel police pull body of missing senior from Brampton waterway

Police have pulled the body of a missing 81-year-old woman from a pond in Brampton, marking the tragic end of a day-long search.

In a tweet, Peel Regional Police said officers responded to reports of a deceased person in a local waterway around 5 p.m.

The body was found in Reginald Conover Pond near McVean Drive and Huntspoint Drive. Police confirmed the body was that of Pasho Bassi, a senior who was reported missing 9 a.m. Monday.

Peel Regional Police, alongside Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and other first responders, organized a search for the missing senior in the area around her house. It was believed she was travelling by foot.

At around 5 p.m., the OPP helicopter located a body in the water and police confirmed it was Bassi.

Peel police said they would wait for the coroner’s report but did not believe the death was suspicious.
