Woman critically injured after crash involving motorcycle, car in Toronto

A female motorcyclist has critical injuries after her motorcycle collided with a car in Toronto on Friday, officials say.

Toronto police said they were called around 2:45 p.m. for a collision in the area of Gerrard Street East and Ladykirk Avenue, which is just west of Woodbine Avenue.

In a statement issued by the service, the car was driving westbound on Gerrard Street and was making a left turn onto the southbound lanes of Normandy Boulevard.

The motorcyclist was driving eastbound on Gerrard Street when it collided with the vehicle.

A Toronto paramedics spokesperson told Global News their crews were called to the scene at 2:42 p.m.

The spokesperson said the woman was taken to a local trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are asking residents in the area who may have security footage of the incident or have additional information to contact police at 416-808-1900 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
