AVONPORT, N.S. – A massive fire Saturday morning has destroyed a chicken barn in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley.
About 50 firefighters from surrounding areas were called to the blaze in Avonport at approximately 10 a.m.
Smoke could be seen from Highway 101 several kilometers away.
The two-storey barn was meant to house chickens but was empty at the time. It’s believed machine carrying straw somehow caught on fire.
Chief Kirk Fredericks from the Wolfville Fire Department estimates the fire caused $100,000 in damages.
