Teen taken to hospital after shooting in Pickering, Ont.: police

Police are investigating after a teenager was shot in Pickering, Ont., on Thursday.

In a press release, Durham Regional police said at around 4 p.m., on Thursday, officers received a report of a fight in the Liverpool Road and Linwood Street area.

Police said when officers arrived, they located a “conscious 17-year-old male” who was suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers told Global News the victim was located on a foot path.

According to police, he was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

Officers are now asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have security or cellphone footage to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
