Second-degree murder charge after North Battleford hotel stabbing

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – RCMP have identified a 20-year-old Saskatoon man as a murder victim after a stabbing at a North Battleford hotel.

Thang Sian Mang, 20, was found early Monday morning in a hotel room suffering from multiple stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy was to be conducted Tuesday in Saskatoon.

RCMP have charged 36-year-old Nicholas Clifford Giroux of Saskatoon with second-degree murder.

Giroux appeared in Saskatoon provincial court and the matter was adjourned until Friday morning.

The investigation is still ongoing.
