One man is dead after he was ejected from a moving vehicle and then struck by that same vehicle on Lisgar Avenue in Tillsonburg, Ont., just before 8 p.m. Tuesday and another man is facing impaired driving charges in the case.
Oxford OPP initially reported that a pedestrian had been struck but investigators have since said that the collision involved “a passenger being ejected from a moving vehicle and subsequently struck by that vehicle.”
Police said the driver left the area but later returned. In an update just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, police announced that Kyle Cuthburt, 24, of Langton has been charged with dangerous operation causing death, impaired operation causing death and impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration.
The deceased has been identified as Wyatt Chambers, 26, of Tillsonburg.
Lisgar Avenue was closed between Fifth Street and Van Norman Drive for roughly six hours but has since reopened.
