Pedestrian struck on County Road 28 in Hamilton Township: Northumberland OPP

A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being struck by a truck on County Road 28 in Northumbeland County early Tuesday – Oct 5, 2021

A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle along County Road 28 in Hamilton Township early Tuesday.

According to Northumberland OPP, the collision occurred around 4:40 a.m. near the community of Bewdley.

A broken skateboard was found in a ditch along the highway. One set of wheels was still on the highway. A large truck had front end damage on the passenger side.

The victim — believed to be a teenager — was transported to hospital with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported in the collision.

It’s not known yet if the victim was on or using the skateboard at the time of the collision.

County Road 28 was closed between County Road 9 and Rice Lake Drive North as OPP investigated.

UPDATE Wednesday, Oct. 6: 
On Wednesday morning, OPP said the victim has been transported to a Toronto-area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

This collision remains under investigation.
