Kittens abandoned in cardboard box

KELOWNA — The Kelowna SPCA is asking for your help after 11 cats and kittens were left abandoned in a cardboard box outside the shelter Friday.

SPCA staff say the cats were covered in fleas. All have now undergone a health assessment and the animals need expensive medical treatment.

“It is so sad when a person is no longer able to care for their animals, but abandoning animals on the doorstep is not the answer” says SPCA  Branch Manager, Suzanne Pugh.

The shelter is hoping to raise $2,000 dollars to care for the animals and staff are hoping you can help by donating to the “Cardboard Box Cats and Kittens” fund at the SPCA’s Paws for a Cause fundraiser, underway Sunday September 8th.
