Both stations in Southwold Township responded to the fire around 1 a.m. Thursday.

In addition to the crews from Talbotville and Shedden, the London Fire Department also provided assistance.

Elgin OPP say that someone had intentionally cut down a hydro pole with three transformers on it, and a section of copper was stolen from the downed lines.

Police say that resulted in the sparking of wires, leading to the large brush fire.

No injuries were reported, and a damage estimate is still being determined.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
