EDMONTON- A Sylvan Lake man is facing numerous driving and drug related charges after he was caught driving 230 kilometres per hour near Whitecourt Monday night.
RCMP and Alberta Sheriffs attempted to stop the man, who was driving a 2001 Jaguar, on Highway 43 west of Whitecourt, around 11:25 p.m.
When the man did not stop, a pursuit began. During the pursuit, RCMP say the Jaguar went off the road, down a sharp decline, and got stuck at the end of a road off Highway 32 north.
Officers say the man took off on foot, but was caught several hours later.
RCMP searched the vehicle, where officers found 434 grams of cocaine, 639 grams of methamphetamine, one gram of heroin, and other drug paraphernalia. A loaded .45 caliber handgun and a number of Oxycodone pills were also found in the vehicle, according to RCMP.
RCMP say Brian Buxton is now facing numerous charges including Dangerous Driving, Possession of Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unsafe storage of Firearm among other charges.
Buxton was also wanted on a number of warrants out of Blackfalds, Innisfail, Red Deer and British Columbia.
He is scheduled to appear in Whitecourt Provincial court on August 27, 2013.
