Winnipeg police say they’ve tracked down a tow truck following a fatal hit and run involving an elderly pedestrian in the West Alexander neighbourhood.

Emergency crews were called to the crash near the corner of Logan Avenue and Tecumseh Street around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said Tuesday afternoon that the victim, an 82-year-old man, was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he later died of his injuries.

Earlier in the day Tuesday investigators released a photo of a vehicle they say was involved in the crash, and asked for help tracking it down.

The vehicle was described as a tow truck with a light bar on the roof.

In tweet Tuesday afternoon police said they have since located the truck.

Logan Avenue was closed to traffic between Arlington and Tecumseh streets as police investigated the crash.
