TORONTO — It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman on a stamp!

Canada Post is using this weekend’s Fan Expo — with its huge celebration of comic books — to preview its Superman stamps.

The set, which will be issued on Sept. 10, honours the superhero’s 75th birthday and his Canadian roots.

Superman was co-created by Toronto-born artist Joseph Shuster, who modelled the fictional Metropolis after his hometown and the Daily Planet after the Toronto Star, which he delivered as a kid.

Superman has graced postage stamps around the world, including the U.S. and Argentina.

Fan Expo runs Aug. 22 to 25 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
