Watch: Two hundred people set to speak on Point Grey Road bike lane ahead of city council vote

The discussion around the installation of bike lanes along Point Grey Road in Kitsilano could last all week  at Vancouver city hall. At least 200 people are set to speak at city hall, and a vote from council will follow.

The six-million-dollar proposal would extend bike-friendly routes from the Burrard Street Bridge to Jericho Beach.

Thousands of vehicles would be diverted away from Point Grey Road to 4th Avenue and Broadway.

But critics are wondering with a bike path already in place a few blocks away on 3rd Avenue, why more money needs to be spent converting Point Grey Road.

To make way for cyclists, the city will also remove some on-street parking, leaving many worried that access to local parks would be restricted to those living in the mansions next door.
