43-year-old pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Mississauga

Peel Regional Police say a 43-year-old Toronto man has been died after being hit by a vehicle in Mississauga on Tuesday night.

Emergency crews were called to Mavis Road and Eglinton Avenue shortly before 11 p.m.

Police said the pedestrian was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition after crossing the intersection and being hit by a vehicle heading southbound on Mavis Road. He later died from his injuries.

The vehicle involved remained on scene and the driver is co-operating with officers, police said.

Investigators said it is too early to indicate whether any charges will be laid.

The major collision bureau was called in and is looking at the circumstances surrounding the incident. It is unknown if it was driver or pedestrian error, police said.

The area was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
