Officers have seized several weapons following a Regina police operation that resulted in officers shutting down a stretch of Fourth Avenue for most of Thursday.
At 7:48 a.m., Regina police closed off the 4700 block of Fourth Avenue for over six hours to both pedestrians and traffic.
Police say a call about a young woman being held against her will – but had escaped out the back door – had prompted the police presence.
According to a press release, officers also thought someone was in the same apartment unit threatening to hurt himself and police with a firearm.
Eventually, police say officers determined the man threatening to hurt himself had left before police had arrived.
Despite this, police obtained a search warrant for the apartment which resulted in the seizure of four replica firearms, a shotgun, ammunition and a sword.
Police say they also stopped and questioned two men who had left the apartment building. According to police they had no involvement in the incident and were allowed to leave.
Two women were also detained. One woman was arrested for unrelated, outstanding warrants.
