CALGARY – Over two dozen Alberta-based firefighters will be flying to the Yukon to help battle wildfires there.

The 27 firefighters will depart on Wednesday July 17th.

Officials say rain and cooler temperatures in Alberta have reduced wildfire danger enough that they are able to provide assistance to other regions.

There are currently 15 wildfires burning in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta, all of which are classified as being held or under control

Firefighters in Alberta regularly travel to other regions in North America to help out.

Earlier this week, Alberta sent 44 firefighters to Manitoba to help fight wildfires there.
