4 suspects arrested after home invasion near Drayton Valley

Four people are in custody after a home invasion north of Drayton Valley, Alta., Tuesday morning led to a police search and shelter-in-place order for residents.

RCMP said they were called to a home invasion that resulted in a vehicle being stolen at 8:32 a.m. in the Moon Lake Hall area, near Township Road 520 and Highway 22. The area is located about 28 kilometres north of Drayton Valley.

All residents in the area were asked to remain in their homes and shelter in place as police searched for suspects, but just before 1 p.m. RCMP said in a media release that residents were now safe to leave their homes.

RCMP had said two male suspects were brought into custody around noon, and police were working to track down two more suspects — a man and a woman. The public was warned not to pick up any hitchhikers in the area as the search was being performed.

Shortly before 1 p.m., police said the two additional suspects had been arrested without incident, with help from the RCMP emergency response team.

RCMP said no additional information on the incident would be released until Wednesday.

Drayton Valley is located about 140 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
