Patients at Pasqua South Medical Centre in Regina are left wondering after the clinic shut down suddenly.
On Saturday, the medical centre posted to Facebook addressing the situation.
“We understand there is much confusion and many questions. As of now we are unable to disclose much information,” the post read.
It said that a new management company took over the clinic on Nov. 1, 2019, to help manage everyday operations and to give Dr. Tomi Mitchell, the owner, a much-needed break. Mitchell told Global News on Monday that the management company was Alliance Health Clinic.
“I was notified, I believe on May 22, by one of my staff that she was terminated by this company and closing the door and no point for her to be going to work,” Mitchell said.
“My first feeling was ‘wow’ and ‘everything is going to be okay.’ We work as a team. We, at Pasqua South Medical Centre, are a family.”
Emails have been sent to all of the clinic’s patients as staff work “day and night to try and pick up the pieces.”
She said patients have been extremely understanding regarding the situation.
“It was encouraging that we could give them such shocking news, but still have an overwhelming amount of support,” Mitchell said.
“That really means a lot to the physicians, staff and the entire team because we work together.”
Mitchell owns another practice at 3275 Quance Street, where she is directing her south side clients. For now, she is still working on a new website for her new location.
As for appointments, she said they are mainly doing them by telephone. In some instances, there will be in-person appointments.
Mitchell said she reached out to Alliance Health Clinic for clarity on why it chose to close shop without speaking to her, but has yet to hear back.
Global News also tried contacting Alliance and are still waiting for a response.
