TORONTO – NASA has released animation that shows how fires around the globe are releasing carbon monoxide into our atmosphere.
Carbon monoxide is widely believed to contribute to global warming and climate change.

The data was collected by NASA’s Aqua satellite June 18 to June 30.
The emissions from fires in Eastern Canada, Arizona, Central Africa and Russia appear red.
In the final few images, the deeper red areas are seen over Quebec as well as Arizona. There have been several fires raging in parts of Northern and Eastern Canada. The Arizona fire killed 19 firefighters.
