Grass fire at Kelowna’s Bertram Creek Park deemed suspicious

The Kelowna Fire Department has now turned over the investigation into a grass fire at a park to the RCMP.

Fire crews got a call just before 11:30 a.m. to Bertram Creek Regional park at the end of Lakeshore Road.

The call came in as a tree on fire but when firefighters arrived they discovered a grass fire.

Fire officials say they managed to extinguish the fire, which was about 30 by 12 metres, fairly quickly.

Crews say the fire did not go up into any trees and was slow moving.

The fire has been deemed suspicious.
