Pedestrian killed in collision on County Road 28 south of Peterborough: OPP

Tragedy strikes near Fraserville Thursday night, as a woman who was walking on County Rd. 28 was fatally struck by a vehicle – Mar 6, 2020

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on County Road 28 south of Peterborough on Thursday night.

The collision happened around 9:15 p.m. on County Road 28 just north of Cedar Valley Road in Fraserville in Cavan Monaghan Township, about 20 kilometres south of the city.

OPP say a vehicle travelling northbound on County Road 28 collided with a woman who was walking on the roadway.

The pedestrian died of her injuries, according to OPP. No one else was injured.

The victim has been identified as Jackie-Lynn Ford, 30, of Peterborough.

The deceased will be transported to the Provincial Forensic Pathology Unit at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex in Toronto for a post=mortem examination.

All lanes of County Road 28 were closed  for the investigation. The road reopened around 4:45 a.m. Friday.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
