Come Friday Voyageur Park will become a winter wonderland.
Thousands of Manitobans are expected to take part this year. Organizers say the ten day winter festival is getting bigger every year.
“It’s a very unique event that celebrates the history and culture but music as well,” says Ginette Lavack, the event’s executive director.
Festival goers will see more musical acts this year, and more fun. The snow maze is back and bigger than last year. Plus, an additional slide has been added for die-hard tobogganers.
“There was only one in the past so a few line ups (were) happening. So this year we’ve added a second slide, which we’re really excited about,” said Lavack.
Families can also learn about Canada’s voyageurs and fur trading, including costumes.
Final touches are being done on dozens of snow sculptures made by artists from all over the world.
