The Winnipeg Police Service’s public information office confirmed police are investigating a homicide early Sunday morning.

A squad car and the police identification unit could be seen parked on the front lawn of a Highwater Path home Saturday afternoon.

The street lined with a dozen or so homes is quiet and police don’t come there often, according to neighbours.

“We’ve been here for five years now,” said Bon Bacani. “This is the first time there’s a serious incident.”

“It’s a pretty quiet neighbourhood.”

Bacani and his family are now worried for their well-being.

“There’s a serious incident that happened just a few doors away. You start worrying about your safety, especially during night.”

Police are expected to provide more information Sunday.
