A man confronted the victim as he was walking to his car in the mall’s parking lot around 8 p.m. — that led to an argument, police say. The two didn’t know each other prior to the assault.

“The guy who confronts him ends up attacking,” Winnipeg Police Service Const. Rob Carver says. The victim was stabbed multiple times.

The victim has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Officers quickly arrested a 39-year-old man. The accused is known to police, Carver says.

Gregg Stanley Dodge is charged with aggravated assault and failing to comply with court conditions.

The strip mall was taped off by police Friday night.

At least six police cars were seen in the Moray Plaza, near the corner of Moray and Ness.

Several other vehicles were parked in the area police blocked off and officers were seen laying down evidence markers.
