The Edmonton Public School Board is considering whether or not to close Eastwood School at the end of June.
As of next September, the 100-plus students at Eastwood may be attending a different school to low enrollment. Six of the school’s eight classes are combined grades.
A community meeting will be held about the potential closure in the school’s gymnasium Thursday night.
Eastwood, built in 1922, is being considered for closure along with six other schools in the elementary program.
Parents of Eastwood children say they would like to see the school stay open as the school’s smaller size allows for more focus on the children.
The Eastwood meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
