1 dead in crash south of Exeter: Huron County OPP

Huron County OPP say a man has been pronounced dead following a Tuesday morning crash south of Exeter.

Police said they responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 4 just outside Centralia around 6:30 a.m.

The preliminary investigation has found that a northbound tractor trailer collided with the back of a northbound sedan.

The driver and lone occupant in the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene and police identified him late Tuesday as James McIntyre, 75, from Middlesex Centre.

The driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital and has since been treated and released.

Around 6:45 a.m., OPP announced that Highway 4 had been closed between Whalen Line and Mount Carmel Drive. It reopened shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday.
