Hamilton police have identified a suspect in a fatal shooting that took place outside a billiards club on York Boulevard over the weekend.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police say officers were called to Boulevard Billiards. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and police later identified him as Obsa Junedi-Mohamed, 29, of Hamilton.
Detective Sergeant Peter Thom said Junedi-Mohamed was shot in the head at “point-blank range”.
There were about 20 people inside the club at the time of the shooting. Thom said investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified a suspect.
Ibrahim Issak-Hussen, 26, of Hamilton, is wanted for first-degree murder. Thom said he goes by the street name Seemo and should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone who sees him is urged not to approach him but to call police immediately.
Thom said the suspect and the victim knew each other and had been interacting for about half an hour before Junedi-Mohamed was shot.
“Video footage shows they had some kind of minor physical altercation about 10 minutes before the shooting occurred,” said Thom. “It’s unknown what the argument was about.”
He confirmed that both of them were known to police.
Police also released images of a white four-door sedan that was seen fleeing the scene after the shooting.
The driver of the white sedan reportedly turned himself in to police over the weekend. Although he was initially arrested for first-degree murder and accessory after the fact, police say he was released unconditionally after being interviewed by investigators.
Thom said police are also looking to speak with another passenger who was in the white sedan when it reportedly left the scene and are urging him to contact investigators.
