Woman taken to hospital in critical condition after being stabbed in Scarborough

Toronto Paramedics say a woman has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Scarborough on Thursday.

Emergency crews were called to Birkdale Road, near Midland Avenue and Ellesmere Road, shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Paramedics and police told Global News a 22-year-old woman was in critical condition when she was taken to a trauma centre.

However, police later said the woman was expected to survive.

Police said they were searching for a suspect, who was believed to be the victim’s brother.

On Friday, investigators announced Fahad Jeebhai, 28, of Toronto was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.
