Halton police have arrested a suspect after an early morning stabbing in Milton that sent a man to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday after a 911 call from a residence on Scott Boulevard, say police.

Officers say they found a male with what appeared to be stab wounds. He was subsequently transported to hospital.

At the time, police revealed they had no suspects and canvassed the area looking for witnesses and surveillance video.

Early Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed an 18-year-old from Milton had been arrested and charged with attempted murder, robbery, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Hunter Kershaw appeared in bail court on Wednesday and will make another appearance in Milton court on Sept 20.

Const. Steve Elms told Global News the accused and the victim were “known to each other.”

Investigators are also looking for a 2013 four-door black Hyundai Elantra which was allegedly driven by Kershaw prior to his arrest.

It’s believed the accused stopped the vehicle somewhere between Scott Boulevard in Milton and an area of Creditview Road and Argentia Road in Mississauga.

Kershaw allegedly tried to change a tire and eventually drove it into a ditch.
