EDMONTON – A 59-year-old man remains in life threatening condition after being injured on the job in south Edmonton on Friday.
It happened just after 5 p.m. as he was working on a large lathe for BP Machine Limited at 42nd Street and 78th Avenue.
“The machinery, from what I understand, is used to create tools for an oil well. So it’s huge, it’s the size of a pick-up truck,” said Occupational Health and Safety spokesperson, Jennifer Dagsvik.
OHS officials say the victim was crushed between two parts of the computer-operated lathe and is now on life support in hospital.
A stop-work order has been issued for that machine while investigators complete their investigation.
