WINNIPEG – Two people are dead, both found inside a upscale Charleswood home, but police are stopping short of calling it a double homicide.

“We do have our members of the homicide unit involved,” said Constable Jason Michalyshen, “we also have members of our identification and forensic section on scene.”

Global news has learned, around 8 Friday morning, someone walked into a nearby police station to report the incident and is now being questioned.

“The cops showed up after 8 and the ambulance and fire truck,” said Daryl Kennedy, who lives next door.

Two ambulances were called to the scene.  Several people arrived at the home, one woman became distraught as she spoke with police.

“They were nice and quiet,” said Kennedy, who only spoke to his neighbours when they came over to borrow items.

Residents tell Global News, the couple living in the home are in their 40’s and have an adult son.  They moved into the area about a year ago.

“Last night there were some visitors but they left around 9,” said Kennedy.

Neighbours say there was a small gathering at the home Friday night, but nothing out of the ordinary.

“I was at around 10 last night, and I did see some people sitting on the stoop at that house in question,” said Susie Gale-Warrell, who lives across the street, “they were just sitting there listening to music and everything seemed normal.”

No one’s been arrested.  For residents, seeing the heavy police presence came as a shock.

“Yeh, this is a pretty amazing neighbourhood,” said Gale-Warrell, “nothing like this ever happens here.”

Police continue to investigate.
