Two Northumberland County residents are facing impaired driving charges in separate incidents this week.

OPP received information around 2 a.m. Thursday about an alleged erratic driver travelling westbound on County Road 2 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township.

Officers located the suspect vehicle on Brimley Road just north of County Road 2. Police allege the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Michael Robert Daines, 51, of Hamilton Township, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80-plus.

He was released and will appear in court in Cobourg on April 24.

On Tuesday around 3:40 p.m., officers stopped an SUV on County Road 35 in the Municipality of Trent Hills after they observed the vehicle allegedly passing other vehicles in an unsafe manner.

Police allege the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Wayne McCormack, 48, of Trent Hills was arrested and operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80-plus.

He was released and will appear in court in Cobourg on April 17.

Both accused had their driver’s licence suspended and their vehicles were towed and impounded, OPP said.
