Driver charged with impaired following rollover in Port Hope

OPP laid a number of impaired-driving charges in Peterborough and Northumberland counties and the City of Kawartha Lakes on the weekend.

Among the incidents included:

Friday, March 15 

  • Around 9 p.m., Kawartha Lakes OPP stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act infraction in Bobcaygeon. James Finley, 45, of Bobcaygeon was arrested and charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration 80-plus; two counts of driving while suspended and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor. He will appear in court in Lindsay on April 18.
  • Around 10 p.m., Peterborough County OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 7 in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township around 10 p.m. OPP say the driver was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. John Harrison, 55, of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township was arrested and charged with operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs, and failure or refusal to comply with a demand. He will appear in court in Peterborough on April 17.

  • Around 5:30 p.m., Northumberland OPP stopped for a vehicle for displaying hazard lights on County Road 25 at the Highway 401 eastbound exit in Cramhae Township. OPP say they detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) was administered resulting in a fail, according to police. Peter Traynor, 59, of Cramahe Township, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration 80-plus. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court on May 1.
  • Around 6:30 p.m. Peterborough County OPP stopped a vehicle on the Eighth Line in Selwyn Township. The driver was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. Gavin Macdonald, 25, of Selwyn Township, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus. He’ll appear in court on April 24.
  • Around 6 p.m., Northumberland OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on County Road 10 south of Ganaraska Road after a vehicle left the road, struck a ditch and rolled. The driver was not injured. Joseph More, 36, of Port Hope, Ont., was charged with operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs, and two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance (opioid).

Sunday, March 17

  • Around 1:30 p.m., Peterborough County OPP responded to a collision on Lakefield Road. The driver was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol. Ryan Pagneillo, 23, of Minden Hills Township, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus. He’ll appear in court in Peterborough on April 11.
  • Around 10:30 p.m., Peterborough County OPP responded to a collision on County Road 40. The female driver was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. Lisa York (age 47) of Douro-Dummer Township was arrested and charged with operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration 80-plus. She will appear in court in Peterborough on April 11.
  • Around 2 a.m., Northumberland OPP were notified of a jeep being operated in an erratic manner and speeding on Highway 401 from the Port Hope Service Centre. The vehicle was stopped by officers on the highway east of Cobourg. Officers say they detected an alcoholic beverage on the driver who then failed an ASD test, according to police. William Stewart McCue, 22, of Georgina Island, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration 80-plus. He will appear in Cobourg court on April 10.

Monday, March 18

  • Around 2:15 a.m., Kawartha Lakes OPP stopped a vehicle on Glenarm Road. The driver, Marly-Anne Lavigne, 28, of Coboconk, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration 80-plus; driving while suspended, speeding and failure to notify a change of name. She will appear in court in Lindsay on April 25.
