Pedestrian, 69, dies after being hit by car in city’s east end: Ottawa police

A 69-year-old man died after being struck by a car while walking along Renaud Road in the city’s east end on Sunday evening, Ottawa police say.

The fatal collision occurred just before 6:30 p.m., about 300 metres from the intersection of Renaud Road and Mer-Bleue Road, a spokesperson for the Ottawa Police Service said Monday morning.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Spokesperson Const. Chuck Benoit declined to provide more information on the nature of those injuries, citing an ongoing investigation by the police service’s collision investigation unit.

Benoit said the vehicle involved was a “regular passenger vehicle.”

No one has been charged in the incident, he said.
