One man is dead following a snowmobile collision in South Bruce Peninsula, police say.

Bruce Peninsula OPP say on Thursday just after 8:30 p.m., a single snowmobile collision occurred on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail, north of Park Head Road.

Police say an investigation has revealed the snowmobile was travelling north when it left the trail and collided head-on with a tree.

Officers say the driver, a 37-year-old man from Arran-Elderslie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place in Owen Sound on Friday.
