The incident is alleged to have happened during the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 26, when a vehicle caught fire in the parking lot of a west-end motel. Police have deemed the fire as suspicious.

Police say further investigation, which included reviewing security footage from the parking lot, led them to believe the 55-year-old, who had been staying in another room, was responsible for the fire.

He was arrested later that evening and transported to Kingston Police Headquarters, and attended a bail hearing on Wednesday.
