WATCH: Police have confirmed they are investigating after a gunshot was fired into a northwest Calgary church. Jenna Freeman reports – Feb 21, 2019

Calgary police were called to the Varsity Acres Presbyterian Church at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday after reports that a shot had been fired into the building.

Officers arrived and found what appeared to be consistent with a bullet hole in the side of the building.

Karen Anderson was at the church for a presentation on Wednesday and said it sounded like a loud pop.

“I think there was sort of this shock; no one really moved except the organizer,” she said Thursday. “Everything was kind of surreal. No one panicked, everyone just kind of sat there and listened to the rest of the presentation so everybody was really, really calm.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Anderson said it wasn’t until she had a day or so to reflect on what happened that it really set in.

”It’s kind of scary just because of other drive-by shootings and we don’t know if this was a drive-by but it seems very rarely they catch people, so that’s the bad part.”

Calgary police said Thursday that there aren’t any suspects and that no one was hurt in the incident.

A visible bullet hole could be seen in the building Thursday morning where the shot was fired.

Calgary police said it’s unclear whether this was a drive-by shooting or what led up to the incident.
