Traffic stop in Hamilton leads to 2 arrests, cocaine seizure: police

A suspended driver and wanted man have both been caught by Hamilton police.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, police noticed a man talking to the driver of a minivan in the King William and Emerald streets area.

A preliminary investigation revealed the registered owner of the vehicle was a suspended driver, so a traffic stop was conducted and a 53-year-old Hamilton man was arrested for driving while suspended, and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

According to police, a male passenger in the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt and tried to give officers a fake name, but police determined the man had outstanding arrest warrants and was also bound by court orders which he was violating.

A 28-year-old Brampton man was also taken into custody. According to police, a search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating an undisclosed amount of cocaine.
