Stolen vehicle investigation leads to modified shotgun in Brantford

Brantford Police seized a prohibited firearm when they recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

On Sunday morning, officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of a motel on Colborne Street and took into custody a man who was seen fleeing the area.

Police say the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was in possession of stolen identification. Inside the stolen vehicle, they say they located a modified shotgun, more stolen identification and documents.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Brantford man is now facing several charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of stolen property and driving while under suspension.
