A major winter storm may be on its way to eastern Ontario, according to Canada’s weather agency.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for the Kingston, Prince Edward County, Brockville and Belleville regions.
The storm is expected to hit on Tuesday morning and continue on into Wednesday. Total snowfall for the region is expected to be somewhere between 25 and 35 centimetres.
Along with the snow may come strong winds reaching up to 70 km/h. This mixed with the heavy snowfall could cause reduced visibility and dangerous driving conditions, according to Environment Canada.
The weather agency says the snow may not taper off until Wednesday during the day. Environment Canada is advising people to avoid travelling if possible.
“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone.”
