A heartbroken mother is pleading for help to find those responsible for the death of her 21-year-old daughter.
The body of Destiny Rae Tom was found outside a home on the Nautley First Nations reserve in northern B.C. in late March. Investigators called to the scene said suspicious circumstances surrounded her death. An autopsy later confirmed foul play was involved.
Destiny was the mother of a three-year-old girl and a resident of the Fort Fraser-area reserve.
“Our lives have forever been changed with the loss of our youngest child,” said Vivian Tom at an RCMP press conference early Wednesday. “Destiny loved life, loved people & had many family & friends that loved her. Her life was tragically taken far too soon.

“Whoever is responsible for Destiny’s death is still out there. My husband, children and especially our 3-year-old granddaughter deserve closure to this horrific nightmare.”
Tom pleaded with anyone who had any information about her daughter’s death to step forward and speak with investigators.
“We believe that someone out there knows something,” she said. “We ask you to help us. Please come forward with the truth.”
Police are not releasing any further details as the investigation is still underway, but have said they are following up on information and conducting interviews.
“This investigation remains a priority for the RCMP and we encourage those who knew Destiny and were last with her on the Nautley Reserve, to come forward and speak with investigators,” said Const. Lesley Smith. “RCMP investigators are working closely with Destiny’s family and friends and they continue to work diligently in order to find the answers we all need to bring the individuals responsible for her death, to justice.”
