TORONTO – If the number of “likes” on Facebook is a reflection of a celebrity’s popularity, Canadians Justin Bieber and Avril Lavigne have some work to do.
Bieber ranks No. 6 among celebrities with 52.5 million fans (including a little more than 891,000 Canadians) on the social media site while Lavigne is in the No. 17 position with 41.1 million (including 656,000 in Canada).
Bieber is bested on Facebook by Rihanna, Eminem, Shakira, Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga.

Down the list at No. 35 is Toronto rapper Drake, who has 28.3 million Facebook fans. But with more than 1 million Canadian “likes,” he’s more popular in his native country than Bieber or Lavigne.
Nickelback is at No. 62 on Facebook with nearly 16 million fans, including 685,236 in Canada.
Celine Dion has 10.2 million “likes,” earning her the No. 103 spot while fellow Quebec act Simple Plan trails at No. 125 with 8.8 million. They have 194,500 and 226,700 Canadian fans respectively.
At No. 167 is Toronto-based DJ deadmau5 with 7.3 million fans (including 456,403 in Canada), followed by Michael Buble at No. 218 with 5.8 million (including 181,500 Canadians) and Carly Rae Jepsen at No. 227 with 5.4 million (including 176,600 in Canada).
Which celebrities do Canadians “like” the most on Facebook? Eminem is on top with 1.8 million fans, followed by Rihanna, Megan Fox, Katy Perry and Adam Sandler.
Canadian stars who rank in the Top 100 include Drake, Bieber, Nickelback, Georges St-Pierre (681,665 fans), Lavigne, Hedley (642,978), deadmau5, Marianas Trench (453,859), Down with Webster (401,064), LIGHTS (338,053), Three Days Grace (323,295) and Stereos (309,944).
